RAB, World Bank Review Key Agriculture Projects

Kigali, Rwanda — 14 September 2026 — RAB and the World Bank launched a joint mission to review progress and future investment opportunities across key agricultural transformation projects.

Dr. Florence Uwamahoro, Acting Director General of RAB, officiated the mission, which brought together the RAB-SPIU management team and a World Bank team led by Esdras Byiringiro, Agriculture Economist and Task Team Leader.

Running from 14 September to 7 October 2026, the mission is assessing SAIP II, CDAT and GFPP, with particular attention to irrigation development, project implementation and readiness for additional financing.

The mission will also review the Nyabarongo II irrigation component, including field visits to the dam and irrigation sites under construction. Discussions will further cover the proposed Market Driven Agriculture Development Project (MADAP), with an estimated US$200 million World Bank financing.

The mission aims to strengthen implementation of ongoing projects while informing the preparation of future investments in irrigation, food security, commercialization and agricultural transformation.
