Genetic Resources Management Program

The Genetic Resources Management Program has the mission of conserving and promoting the sustainable utilization of genetic resources. These genetic resources include plant, animal, and microbial genetic resources.

Through the National Gene Bank, the program is responsible for the efficient conservation and storage of genetic resources and related information, as well as making them available for sustainable use. Prior to this, the program conducts the exploration and collection of genetic resources, with particular focus on genetic resources that are under threat.

The program is also responsible for implementing the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture and other related conventions.
